A portrait of Himba tribe woman from Africa - North Namibia. I decided to make this picture, because i just like their way of living. The tribe is called "Red People" they are very friendly and the woman covering them selves twice a day with red soil and butter. 7 layer handcut stencil, spraypaint on poster board, 23.5 x 16.5 inch.
Love, love, love this piece! I'm a big fan of traditional and contemporary African art and culture. Have you checked out the Ndebele people of South Africa? The women paint their houses and bodies sometimes in the most beautiful geometric patterns of bright colors. And they use acrylic paint now on their houses!
